engineering trainer & assessor

Reporting to our Managing Director, the role will be responsible for delivering the Certificate III & IV in Engineering along with selected Certificate III AUR Qualifications. The position is Permanent Full-Time and based in Eight Mile Plains, Queensland.

Outsource Institute of Technology’s head office is located at Eight Mile Plains, Queensland, however, the delivery of both state and nationwide training is required and so the successful candidate must be willing to undertake regional travel on a regular basis.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide RPL, conduct training and assessment, and develop necessary training packages
  • Consult with workplace representative to identify the training needs of the client and the students. This may require varying the contact with students, delivery methods and styles around the workplace.
  • Facilitate student learning by preparing and executing appropriate training methodologies
  • Design a student’s Individual Training Plan and prepare student for assessment.
  • Develop effective working relationships with student groups
  • Actively participate in areas such as curriculum development, implementation and review

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualification and Experience:

  • Certificate III Engineering- Mechanical or higher
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) or equivalent (Mandatory)
  • Preferable 5-10+ years’ experience in the automotive, hydraulic/fluid power industry

  • Extensive and relevant industry and training experience
  • Demonstrated high level of technical skills and experience
  • High level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight time frames
  • Collaborative skills working as a member of a training team
  • Highly Professional, customer focused, and self-motivated
  • Be fully competent with all Microsoft packages
  • Confident computer skills – able to pick up new systems

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • A background as a Plant Mechanic or relevant automotive field
  • Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate IV in Engineering
  • Experience as a Trainer and Assessor in the Vocational Education and Training (VET)
  • Excellent presentation and training skills
  • Proven history in developing learning and assessment resources
  • An awareness of current and emerging industry training needs

Training and Development Specialist

About the Role

The role of the Training and Development Specialist (TDS) predominantly involves an understanding of business development and requires identification of Vocational, Education and Training (VET) along with consultancy opportunities for Outsource Institute.  These identified opportunities shall have the potential to translate into commercial contracts with government, business and industry at a regional, state and national level, consistent with the Outsource Institute’s Business Plan and the individual performance responsibilities for the role.

The Role & Responsibilities

  • Expand Outsource Institute’s commercial activities and fee for service revenue through the employment of professional marketing and Training and Development Specialist strategies
  • Submissions and proposals to public and private sector organisations and enterprises;
  • Work closely with the Training and Development Team to develop and implement a strategic Sales Plan focusing on an objective to secure new commercial initiatives;
  • Regular Travel both regionally and interstate will be required;
  • The candidate will have outstanding organisation skills, operate with a reasonable degree of autonomy and as part of a team;
  • Required to demonstrate high degree of motivation, initiative and independent decision-making skills in day-to-day functions within the ambit of this position description & Outsource Institute’s Policies, Procedures and Code of Conduct.

  • Excellent articulation and presentation skills;
  • Extensive knowledge of the Vocational, Education and Training (VET) system, and relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice;
  • Excellent fast pace sales experience/ and ability to meet monthly target;
  • Ability to adhere to Federal & State Government legislative requirements;
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects with minimal supervision

Qualifications & Experience required

  • 4 years + RTO Sale experience or combination of relevant work experience and/or education and training
  • Knowledge of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), VET Sector and CRICOS;
  • An awareness of current and emerging industry training needs
  • A minimum education level – Diploma or higher or combination of relevant work experience and/or education and training
  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable and registered vehicle
